You will notice your male dog is more interested in your female. He may follow her close by and try to mount her. She will ignore him and more than likely move away from him during the proestus phase.
Mating between dachshunds can look aggressive and forceful from a safe distance. However, under the supervision and between same-sized dogs, the fear of hurting each other is less. The gestation period for pregnancy in female dachshunds is 63 days. A female dachshund needs a balanced and nutritious diet during pregnancy to keep her and her puppies healthy.
Visible signs of pregnancy are vomiting and loss of appetite, breast development, change in nipple color, sudden decrease in activity and mood swings, or behavioral changes. Heat Cycle and Maturity. Female dachshunds. During the initial days of the heat period, female dogs can experience a lot of bleeding and urination, along with swelling of the vulva. This is the chance for male dogs to mate with the female. We can smell a female in heat and are likely to hang out around them. However, female dogs do not allow mating at this point.
