Yes, that would have been MUCH easier, but was more expensive than my just-out-of-college budget could afford. Since this was posted, we've invested in a Silhouette device which I also couldn't have afforded straight out of college, ha! Reply 12 years ago on Introduction.

Okay so just got the app and wanted to flag this to come back to and flagged it wrong but I love the concept. Thanks so much for this guide! I used it on a mirror of my own. One tip though-- Instead of cutting out the text on the computer paper, color over the back of the letters with a lead pencil the heavier the better , and then tape the computer paper to the contact paper. Take a sharp pencil mechanical is good and trace the outlines of the letters on the computer paper.

This basically makes a carbon-style copy onto the contact paper, and is soooo easy! I'm making something similar, for my boyfriend. You can choose from left, middle, or right depending on your preference. Try something as simple as a short quote along the bottom frame of your mirror or add an image in one of the corners. Be artistic, this is your own personal project! Make sure that you use Windex to wipe down your mirror to make sure that the etching compound is directly applied to the mirror and not on top of any loose elements like dirt or dust.

Both solutions have a slightly different look. I should also mention, that you can frost the glass on both sides by only using the sandblasting process.

Some mirrors have a tough silver back, while others can be scratched very easily. But either way, they will not dissolve with the diluted craft acid cream. Below is an mirror with a single stage etching from the front side of the glass. You can also etch the mirror from the front and back at the same time to give it a unique contrasting effect. I offered to paint the frosted glass areas with a color to make it pop out a bit more, but he wanted to keep the frosted white look.
